I just recently started purchasing Le Creuset, after many years of looking. I have been a bit surprised by the experience in my first two pieces.

My first, a stock pot, arrived with large dings on the lid. My second, the 5.25 Dutch oven, arrived with multiple pits in the lid. Both were not the retailers fault but are clearly defects in production. I am receiving replacements of each and am hoping to have greater luck this time around.

Is this to be expected with the brand? I would love to know thoughts of anyone who is more experienced with Le Creuset!

I have several pieces and haven't had any issues that you mentioned.  I'm sorry that you have had problems.

I have two Le Creuset pans and I love them.  Mine arrived perfectly when purchased.  I did however buy one at Marshall's and one on line directly from the company.  Both of mine were manufactured in France, are yours and where did you purchase them from?

Some are made in China like the ones the Q generally sells.

Wow, you were so lucky to find one at Marshall’s! Thanks for the information you provided. The stock pot was purchased from the Q and is made in China. The Dutch oven is from crate and barrel and stamped made in France….

@LindaSal

ALL Le Creuset enamelled CAST IRON is made in France, including the ones QVC and everyone else sells.

The other stuff...like the ceramic ware, the steel non stick pans, that enamelled stock pot, and anything NOT enamelled cast iron, are made in Asia.

QVC does NOT sell Le Creuset cast iron made in China. It doesn't exist!

@OthereeeenSorry for the error, it must have been something other than a cast iron pan that I am recalling seeing the LeCrueset name on and it said "imported" not "made in France". I have found that the Q has done this with other items, selling a cheaper version under a normally great product name.

No problem!.....I think in the description of each LC item they indicate "imported" so it may imply it's "imported" from Asia....but usually in the text it says "made in France" for the cast iron items...and of course if it comes from France, it IS "imported"!!!!

I do agree it's misleading, and I've read many complaints in the comments section for individual Le Creuset items that customers were surprised when they got a branded item that was made NOT in France!!!

You have to listen REALLY closely to the presentations for this brand...the cast iron items they will mention 10,000 times that it's made France, while the other items they are silent on the subject of it's manufacture origin...

Anyway, all the Le Creuset cast iron items I've received from QVC were perfect....as good as what comes from W/S or E-bay or LC.

What I wish they wouldn't do is sell the "Classic" line when the newer "Signature" is more up to date. Or put those "infomercial" Cook and Look glass lids (Sacrilege!!! on a pot designed to hold steam IN!!!)

But I will buy Classic because it's still such great cookware, and I take good care of mine so it should last forever!!

My problem is who to leave mine to!! I have no kids or spouse, and only one sibling who doesn't cook!! If I go first, she will probably put it all in a yard sale for 5.00 each!!!*

* I have told her they are worth trying to sell on E-bay for their worth, but I'll be gone so I won't know!!!
