I do not like the way she sells her products on QVC. It's way over the top. To me, if you have an excellent product, you should inform us about it and demonstrate its qualities -- let the product sell itself. Frantic, hyper, obnoxious behavior makes me think of desperation, not about wonderful the merchandise may be.

Based on my reading here on the Q forums, women are subjected to much more criticism about much more personal aspects than any male vendor (except perhaps Chaz). Some women seem to take great pleasure in trashing female vendors and hosts about everything from their clothing to their perspective on life to their voices to apparently have the audacity to have a great career and earn a substantial salary.

Very well said, and so true. Thanks for posting this. You said it well.

I like Rachel Ray, always have. I loved all her Food Network shows, especially 30 Minute Meals. I like her talk show too. I have no problem with her presentations on the Q. I don't own any of her cookware so I can't comment on that but it certainly looks beautiful and functional. Go Rachel, I say.

Nice try, Have6cats, but I think there is an unwritten rule that you're not allowed to post anything positive on these boards, particularly about women, who are constantly subjected to scrutiny and criticism under the guise of "constructive criticism."

That's all well, and good. But many of the vendors are hysterical, theatrical or hyper like that. That is why I quit watching years ago. I can think of one vendor who hasn't shut up in 20 years. LOL! Don't get me wrong, I purchase from Q... online. I feel I get more info online, sizing, ingredients, etc . The hosts and the vendors do nothing but glamorize the product, and forget about explaining what they are selling. You are right though. Explain the darn product. Give me fit, measurements, washing instructions, cleaning, colors, details. JMHO. But you are so right.

Hi, shoekitty. How strange. I replied to you, but I guess I must have forgotten to click on "submit." That has happened to me before.

Anyway, I agree with you that there are other vendors that are similar. I have no problem with people mentioning that about them either. Of course, those who start with cruel insults are another story.

I used to call those posters on their nasty personal remarks about hosts or vendors but don't do it as often any more. I think they post like that for the drama and the reaction, so maybe silence is the best reply. Wink

I think it's pretty obvious that not everyone who has ever cooked her recipes or used her products have positive things to say. It's fine that you think her recipes are awesome and that her pots are fantastic, but your statements are certainly not fact. Tastes vary - That's human nature. I happen to disagree with you. And disagreeing is not the same as "snarking".

I'm not a hater and I'm not jealous. For my own reasons, I just don't like her, so I don't watch her. I'm not right or wrong, it's just my opinion. And I'm just as entitled to it as you are to yours. Kiss

Not to be rude, but I have to agree you are entitled to your opinion. This was a positive thread, and if I had negative comments to make, I would have just passed on ruining somebody's thread. It's amazing that a poster on these boards can't run a nice, positive thread without some bad apple getting into the barrel. Very pathetic.

I didn't bash Rachael Ray or say anything unkind about her. And the point of my post really had nothing to do with her at all.

The statement I bolded above is simply not true, and I don't see how anyone could possibly believe that it is. I get really tired of people passing their opinion off as fact.

Yes, some posters are nasty and unkind. But most are not. Yet for some reason any form of disagreement is usually met with outrage and jumped-to conclusions that something is wrong is with the person who dares to disagree, and the words "hater", "jealous", and others are thrown around.

Why can't people here just agree to disagree? If someone says they like Rachael's recipes and products, that would be perfectly fine. But that's not what the statement above says. My issue is not with Rachael Ray - It's with people who make statements like that and make no allowances for individuality. Disagreeing is not "snarking"!

NYC I will also add that it seems to be that those calling others a "hater" because they disagree are also "hating" on the poster. Pot kettle so to speak. I really, really am sick of hearing the words "hater" and "jealous".

Oh yes, me too! True "hate" is a horrible thing, and shouldn't be applied so casually.

And please! Disliking someone doesn't automatically mean jealousy is involved. Every time I see that, I feel like I'm back in junior high school.

It's certainly possible to dislike something and not be any of the labels that people here like to throw around. For some reason, a simple difference of opinion often causes outrage, accusations, and name-calling. We all love and are passionate about things that don't appeal to others. And vice versa. There's nothing wrong with that. Kiss

I kinda liked her when she first started out. Now I have the impression she's just a money making organization. Cook books, cookware etc. like Paula Deen, Emeril Lagasie and several of the other food network stars?
