LOCK & LOCK question

First off, Lock and Lock is offering me a replacement. I called with a question, they simply asked for my address and said they would send out a new one. Great customer service! Love to be treated that way.

I have never put my salad keeper in the dishwasher. I hand wash with Dove, or Ivory, etc...

It is sticky. It is sticky inside and out. I have never put it anywhere that creates heat. It is my prize possession as I always take salads to share when I go to potlucks, etc.

Does anyone know what causes plastic to be STICKY. LOCK & LOCK did not know.
