Kuhn Rikon Jar Opener

[ Edited ]

I have a hard time opening jars sometimes.  Recently I bought something that I absolutely couldn't open and started looking for something that would help me open it.  I found the Kuhn Rikon Gripper Jar Opener on Amazon and ordered it.  It's really amazing.  I would never have believed something could work like this.  lf any of you have trouble with jars I highly recommend it.

I bought the same item from Amazon and it IS a lifesaver.  So easy to get off those tight jar lids and bottle tops.

BTW, does anyone besides my husband and me call it Kool Racoon instead of Kuhn Rikon?  LOLOL

I am going to look into that. With arthritis and carpel tunnel opening items is the bane of my day when DH isn't around to help.

It's a great thing to have!! Had mine for 9 months after I saw another review on the Forum. Must have!

I haven't seen this particular item yet but I remember those round, ridged, pieces of rubber that you used to get at Tupperware parties.  I have one somewhere and it's very helpful.

But, years ago, that gave me an idea that has also worked and I don't have to find that - I just grab one of my Playtex kitchen gloves and put that on the hand I use to loosen the lid.  It helps immensely.   If it's a really difficult one I put on both gloves - one to hold the jar and the other for getting the lid off, for more gripping power.

Great device! I have one that my Mom gave me years ago...she got two and the grip device is identical to this one (but no ring puller ot bottle opener). Mine actually laid in a drawer for years until I started getting arthritis in my knuckles...even as a guy, I'm now needing help to get danged jars open. It's now a tool that I cannot live without. Where ever you get it, just get one.
