I recommend the bowl lift. It is a little more heavy duty, I think. But it is large. I keep mine on the counter (with a cover over it) and it just fits under the upper cabinet. Check your measurement if you plan to leave it out.

I have both. The lift bowl is sturdier, more solid, and easier to use all in all. If you forget to lock the head, the tilt one can flop down, and you have to have enough room to lift it UP too--so it takes up room that way too.
It is also far easier I think to fit and lock the lift bowl in. You can get the tilt head one twisted in wrong and have it fly out an wedge itself between the base and head and be very difficult to get out (husband to get out difficult). I had that happen twice.
The lift bowl is also bigger, holds more, but isn't that much bigger I don't think.
Depends on you, how you use it, space and room. But to me the bigger machine is WAY better.

I prefer the tilt. Have had both but I prefer the tilt. Easier for me to use.

I think it depends on how much you're going to use it and how much you expect to pay. I have a tilt head that I got in the 1990's. For me, it was a "had to have it," I do use it, and it serves me well. However, as I age I use it less and it's getting heavier for me to move around. If you're a heavy duty and frequent baker the lift might be better but if you're not a regular baker you might make better use of the tilt. I may be wrong but I think the lift one has more and some different features than the tilt. Of course, I'm not taking into account how much space you have for it too, which is also a consideration. You can't go wrong with either one. 🌹

Spend the extra money and get the lift style. I think the motor in them is better too. You'll have to research that to be sure.
Our mixer has a home on the small counter next to the stove. Honestly I rarely use it anymore. But when I do, I find the lift to be convenient - no need to move the mixer out or to another place on the counter.

I have the tilt model. I prefer it because it is smaller and takes up less space and is lighter...up to 10 lbs lighter depending on the model. Mine will be turning 50 next December. Yes, I have had mine that long.
Unless you need a heavy duty extra large mixer that is used for commrcial purposes, the tilt model will work just fine. It is also three inches shorter and fits under the cabinets better.
I used to keep mine on the counter, but now store it in a cupboard. I chose the tilt model after researching many years ago and never regretted my choice.

I have had my tilt for around 35 years. It is basic white, and I Iove it. I use it primarily for cakes. I bake everyones birthday cake. I take it in, and out of my pantry. It is heavy but not so heavy for me to pick it up clean it, and put it back. When we built our house I had a designated place for it in my pantry.
I have been tempted by the lift, but omg it is very very heavy. It is big. Once you decide where you are putting it that is where it will stay. You have to ask yourself honestly how much will I use it?
I have a large kitchen and I do not want anymore than my coffee makers, toaster, and air fryer that is enough.

I have the tilt model too, and agree with most of @Carmie 's post. Except that mine is only about 7- 8 years old and still lives on my counter in a corner. I slide it out when needed, using a cut to fit sliding pad underneath that I found on Amazon. I'm not a heavy baker, so the smaller, lighter model is perfect for me.

@joann1218 I had been considering one also, until I discovered one made by Ankarsrum. Made in Sweden, way more powerful, and you can see and add things in as it is mixing. The accessories that you can get with these are incredible as well. It is a bit more expensive, but it will run circles around any Kitchen Aide stand mixer.
I plan on ordering mine in Sept. for my Birthday. Take a look at their website and I think you will be amazed. I have already purchased their citrus juice press, and their large whisk beaters, and may be getting the ice cream maker bowl to make homemade ice cream. When I order mine, I don't plan on getting another so I am going to get one that is built to last and powerful. This is it. Check out their videos etc. and this comes in a many beautiful colors too. Plus, 7 year warranty.
