Kitchenaid Stand Mixer TSV question

Did anyone buy the Kitchenaid Pro lift stand mixer with glass bowl and think it was too big and too heavy? My old Kitchenaid mixer had the tilt head and much smaller. I can hardly lift the bowl with dough in it and heavy to wash. I am beyond my return date but so wish I had bought the tilt head...how is everyone else liking their "lift" mixer?

Re: Kitchenaid Stand Mixer TSV question

I own both types of Kitchenaid mixers.  I've had my tilt head one since 1978 and use it quite frequently and keep it on my counter.  The big bowl lift one I only use if I'm making large batches of cookies.  I too  think it is difficult to get the beater and bowl off, that is why I love the tilt head one so much better.

Re: Kitchenaid Stand Mixer TSV question

I own the Lift (Professional 600 Series) and love mine.  I bought it specifically to make a cookie I make at Christmas that was killing me because I had to mix it by hand.  There is only enough liquid in it to actually have it become a dough, just dribbles of water and 3 eggs and soft whipped butter and it has almonds, walnuts and pecans as well as white, milk and dark chocolate pieces.... this machine DOES IT.  Granted I have to turn it off once in awhile to let it cool down but it makes a 6qt bowl of my cookie dough!!!  Powerful!!

Yes, it is a very heavy machine.  I keep mine on my counter with a cover over it and can slide it out and use it no problem.  I always take the metal bowl off the machine before I attempt to move it.  (I can't imagine moving it with the bowl filled!)

I have never owned a mixer as powerful, heavy and wonderful as this one!  No other mixer compares to it, even the tilt head (IMHO).  But it also just depends on your baking needs....  Woman LOL

When I first got my machine (years ago and not from the Q) I had a hard time with the bowl and the beaters being difficult getting on and off but it really is a "feel" and becomes second nature the more you work with it....

Re: Kitchenaid Stand Mixer TSV question

I sold my Kitchenaid Pro lift mixer with glass bowl on FB for almost what I paid for it on QVC and just received my new Kitchenaid Artisian 5 qt TILT mixer with metal bowl. I absolutely LOVE it...still powerful but so much easier to add ingredients with tilt head and the bowl is much lighter than that heavy glass bowl. Think how big these appliances are before ordering whether a mixer, food processor, pressure cooker, etc.

Re: Kitchenaid Stand Mixer TSV question

Well, I  have the pro 600 Bowl lift with the stainless bowl and I love it? Heavy?I guess, but I dont ever MOVE it..it stays right there on my island all the time..

I do not find the bowl lift hard to add ingredients to....I did get the Lexan  cover for adding things but seldom use it..

Highly recommend, but I guess its not for everyone...Some may only need the light weight one
