I just purchased the TSV from Kitchenaid and remembered her putting in a large potato into the widemouth shoot lengthwise to make large slices of potatoes. I tried to do that this weekend and the machine would not start until I put the feeder tube in (had to use small potatoes that would fit in the feeder). Anyone else try this and have the same problem? Thanks!

I know theres a fill line in my 12 cup one and you have to push the feed tube in that far. I'm assuming it's the same thing.

I also saw Laura put the large potato in the wide mouth tube and I had the same problem as the op. I did not have the time to research the solution. I was wanting to utilize this new food processor to slice yams so I hope someone can help or else I will read the manual.

Hope you can get your problem solved. When I want sliced potatoes, I used the nose attachment to my KA mixer and get great sliced potatoes.

I can see where a large potato would be an issue with most food processors. Good luck!

I just purchased the slicing shredding attachment for my Kitchenaid mixer. For the life of me I can not attach all of the cones to the post. Only one will fit on it - the rest do not lock on. Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong? I have been going to call Kitchenaid but work full time and just haven't had the time. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Wiskota,

Wow, I'm so sorry you're having such diffiiculty. And, here I am sitting with DH behind me at the dining room table (he's a font of information, having been an engineer). However, not all of my KA stuff has made it into my kitchen since our move to a new state, so my answer remains in our storage rental space. I feel very badly about not being able to help you, as I've never had a problem attaching the cones. However, my cones attach to a KA manufactured by Hobart (it's over 30 years old), which makes me wonder if the newer models are somewhat different.

I know how difficult it is to make a CS call while working full time. Do you know what KA's CS hours are? It might help you to know that. It might make a call possible depending on your time zone.

Good luck!

The potatoes can be sliced lengthwise, but the "pusher" has to be reinserted into the feed tube, pushing the potatoes down onto the disk. It is a safety feature.

Thanks for taking the time to answer me! Really appreciate it. I will call and at least find out the times they are there. Thanks again.

When Laura was doing the "larger" lengthwise potatoes she stated" potatoes may need to be trimmed to fit in tube" (she did show trimmed potatoes) I recall. Also, the machine will not work in the feed tube unless you use the "plunger" not sure the correct technical name but it's the piece that fits into the feed tube. Hope this helps a bit -- you could always see if there is a video on the product.
