Kitchen tool for cutting potatoes or yams

My ancient food processor (MAGIMIX) workbasket from the 1980's is finally falling apart. I am trying to find a food processor that cuts nice thick potato fries or yam strips. I can't afford the new pricey French replacement. Even the workbowl and separate lid is $100!!  Anyone have any recommendations for a mid- priced food processor?  I am looking for 9-12 cup size.
