tomorrow starts my COMPLETE kitchen purge, starting with cake mixes, baking supplies, etc! We cook VERY simply now & seems we mostly use our microwave & convection oven.. We plan on a kitchen remodel this year & I do plan on emptying out every cabinet & drawer! Keeping our white cabinets, but will have new countertops & all appliances! We don't have a budget, but am liking the looks of Wilsonart laminate counters, no desire to have to seal, wax, or anything else! Looking forward to a nice, new, low maintenance kitchen! Remodeled for us & not for resale!

Good for you! Sounds exciting to do a kitchen remodel for you to enjoy. Something new to look forward to is a great experience and im sure you will overall really like it. What are you going to do with your purged items?

Cleaned out 2 kitchen cabinets today!  Purged half of my drinking glasses....found my grandkids "sippy" cups...they are 8 and 6!!  Next is pots and pans cabinets!  Like you said, my cooking has changed and only use the same few pans!  Lucky you-new kitchen remodel!  I agree with low maintenance counter tops. Enjoy!

I did a small purge last year and I think I will look through my cupboards again and donate more....

Maybe this year I can get rid of one of my soup tureens....I just can't seem to part with any of them...LOL

Sounds like a plan. I got rid of most of my pans except for two copper chef. That's it. Simple is for us now and any remodel or changes is for us not resale. Good luck.

OP you say you are getting a laminate countertop because you don't want to "seal or wax anything". ??? You do wipe your counters, right? That's all that needs to be done with solid surface countertops. I don't know why the fallacy is out there that granite or quartz is a complicated material. I have granite and simply wipe my countertops and maybe once yearly I spray on a sealer and easity wipe it down. Easy peasy.

We have granite countertops and that's pretty much it. When people talk about sealing and waxing granite countertops, I always think, "Well, don't you ever wipe your counters?" Because that's all it is. Spray, wipe, done. It's not rocket science.

That's great, @Evie2004.  I know I value my kitchen - it has to be right!

I looked at the Wilsonart web site.  I really like all the color options- what fun to plan a new "look".  Enjoy.

Congrats on some kitchen updating! I need mine gutted, just not in the budget right now.

I know for our house and the market in which it sits (as well as our budget) I'd not install granite or or marble counters either, as I don't really care for the cold look, the up keep, the cost, and I'll most likely not recoup the investment in our area.

I've seen (pictures) laminate counters that are more than good enough for what I'd be trying to achieve in a renovation, It is amazing how far some of these things have come.

I made it through 2 large ones today, one with former baking supplies, need to get motivated on my pantry..

i need to do the drinking glasses also, coffee mugs in particular..I am visualizing my minimalistic-looking shelves today, just have to stay away from any kitchen supplies!

Have fun!
