I was looking at toasters at AMZ and nearly did a back flip. They show a 2-slice KA toaster that costs $250. What could this toaster do to make it cost that much? I passed.

@coffee drinker - Toast is toast. It's not going to taste any better if you pay more. Taste depends on the bread that's used. On a spur of the moment, a couple months ago, I bought a $20 toaster at Aldi. It makes toast and it'll do bagels too.

ITA, toast is toast. I've had a $250 or some expensive toaster and it was not great. I've tried all the major brands and they are all lousy. They only toast one side of the bread!!!!! Don't buy an expensive toaster. It's a waste of $$.

I would hope that expensive toasters have better durability and longevity than cheap toasters. Most toasters I have had lasted not more than 10 years. If I were young and had the money I might be tempted to get a better quality toaster if I thought it would last. Of course if I were young, I wouldn't likely have the money.

I paid $57 for a Russell Hobbs toaster about 5 years ago. It still works great and is easy to keep clean.

I've had a pretty red colored Hamilton Beach toaster that I got a long time ago from K-Mart. I think it was only $29.95. It toasts on both sides and is wide enough for bagels. I do remember to empty out the crumb tray occasionally and turn it upside down to get the rest of the crumbs out.

I inherited my mother's toaster. Threw it out...because it was so OLD that it had a fabric cord.
(If I have to eat "toast", I put it in the countertop oven/broiler.)

I have a four slice toaster that is a Rowenta and is about 20 years old. It is dying and Rownenta no longer makes toasters. It was a wonderful toaster and you can even warms buns on the top of it. I am torn between replacing it with another toaster or a taster oven. I think I paid around $45 at the time and was a really good purchase.

I have this Oster. I had the previous model that lasted me more than 15 years. No fancy bells and whistles, so less to break. From Amz.
