I got mine as a gift and love it. It really does eliminate the need to scrape the bowl which is great for baking items. I used it for mashed potatoes and it did really well. If you use your mixer once a week or more then I think it's worth it. One thing to remember . if you use your mixer every day, the blade edge will wear out (just like the wiper blade on your car) and you'll need to replace it.  I still think it's worth it because it saves time. I use my mixer about once a week so I expect mine will last a long time.

I bought one several years ago and if it ever wears out I will get another one.  I do scrape a little at the bottom of the bowl with a spatula but never the sides.  I highly recommend this purchase.  Yes, it's a little pricy but so worth it.
