I am thinking about buying this for my KA mixer. Just wondering if if is really the worth the $40.00? Does it really eliminate the need to scrape the side of the mixing bowl?

@jjb  -  I have one for my KA mixer and use it all the time.  I still run a spatula around the bowl and the bottom to make sure nothing has stuck to the bottom, but the flex edge really helps with the mixing and makes contact with the sides of the bowl.  It does a better job than the regular beater that came with the mixer.  I like mine and I'm happy that I bought it.  I like to bake homemade cookies and cakes and use it every time for those.  Hope that helps.

I purchased one three years ago at Kohl's for my Kitchen Aid mixer and I love it.  Especially great for baking cookies or cakes when you need to cream the butter and sugars together.  It was a good investment for my mixer.  Before, I would have to stop the mixer and scrap down the sides.  Not so much now.

If I had it to do over I wouldn't buy them.  I got mine at I think Williams-Sonoma and they are the real ones for the mixers.  BUT, I just don't use it, or if I do I seem to scrape the bowl as much as ever.

I got my flex edge beater on amazon. It has two flex edges and works amazing. It is clled the Metro Design Beater Blade. Cheaper and works better in my opinion

It works great. Just be sure you buy the correct size for your bowl. If it's too small it won't scrape the inside of the bowl.

since i bought my flex edge beater at kohls i most use it and not the  regular beater.well worth the money. i paid 29.00.
