Keurig VS. Ninja Coffeemaker!

I have a Keurig, it is my 2nd one, and when this one is gone, I was thinking of getting the Ninja. Has anyone used both? Compare? Thanks.......I love my Keurig, but was just curious if you have used both-what the big difference is...

Re: Keurig VS. Ninja Coffeemaker!

Ive had both.  I recently had the Ninja after being a long time Keurig user.  I gave the Ninja to my son.  It makes good coffee. We tended to use the one cup option most of the time.  It was slow compared to the Keurig.  Sounds like a dumb thing, but it was really slow.  Also, I missed the blue light blinking that is on the Keurig when the tank needs filling.  Where the tank on the Ninja is situated and because of the fill tank looking like it is frosty, it was hard to see when it needed to be filled.  I thought I would enjoy the diffrent types of coffee the Ninja made, but after making them once or twice, the thrill wore off.  So, I think its just a matter of personal preference.  I wanted to save $ by not using the K cups, but found it was just an inconvenience, mainly because we used a filter everytime we made one cup and it was just inconvenient.

Re: Keurig VS. Ninja Coffeemaker!

I think it really depends on how many cups off coffee per day you make and whether you care or don't care about throwing away paper filter with grounds every day and/or cleaning permanent filter.

For me, if it doesn't use a K-cup or a pod, I don't want it. I make 10-16 oz of coffee, once a day. I need a small footprint and do not want to be dealing with wet filters and grounds. Households that make Coffee for Two (or more) probably don't care about the cleaning up, they're used to it and they make enough coffee to be "worth" the cleanup.

I watched the presentation on QVC and have also read many reviews for the Ninja. From this I have decided:

It has a huge footprint with a somewhat inconvenient water tank. It makes all kinds of drinks I don't care about. Everyone complains the coffee isn't hot enough and Ninja's response is just "warm the cup with hot water first", i.e. they don't care to make water temp adjustable.  It does everything BUT what I want it to do - brew a single NO MESS cup of coffee. And finally, reviews by purchasers are decidedly mixed. Not everyone loves theirs.

Re: Keurig VS. Ninja Coffeemaker!

I have several of the filters that I use, so I just let them dry fully, dump, wash, and reuse.  This makes the Keurig type coffe makers super easy and way cheaper.

Re: Keurig VS. Ninja Coffeemaker!

I love my Ninja Coffee Bar!  I had a Keurig Rivo but got tired of always having to buy the pods and felt guilty about disposing all of them.  So when I used up the last of my pods I started using the Ninja last November.

I really like being able to use my own coffee and I've been trying different blends which has been fun.  This is much less expensive than using the pods.

The other thing I like is the versatility of this machine since it can make different amounts and different strengths of coffee.

When I make hot coffee for my husband and me in the  morning I set it on the half carafe setting and use the rich setting as we like our coffee a little bit stronger.  When you use the half or full carafe settings it turns the warmer plate on (this feature is only on the one with the glass carafe, the stainless steel carafe doesn't have a warming plate).  I think it automatically turns off after 2 hours, but I always turn it off when we finish our coffee.  I usually just pour our mugs about half full so it doesn't cool off before we finish it.  Then I refill about the same amount until we finish it.  So this half carafe size probably gives us more than one mug each which is all we want to drink.  The warming plate keeps the coffee very hot.  I should also add that we put cream and almond milk in our coffee and I put this and our sweetener in the carafe before I make the coffee.  When it finishes brewing I stir it all together before pouring.  This eliminates any need to separately heat the cream mixture (so it wouldn't cool down the coffee) and the coffee is the perfect temperature.

We also like to drink iced coffee and I use either the iced coffee or specialty setting to make stronger coffee for that.

I do use paper filters rather than the permanent filter that came with the machine.  I dump my grounds in a container I keep in the kitchen that we use to put on the flower beds in our yard so they don't go to waste.  I just rinse out the part that the filter paper goes in and it's no big deal.

I think the ways that people drink coffee and the amount that they drink is so varied that individual needs are very differentl  While it might not be for everyone, for our needs the Ninja is perfect.

Hope this information helps someone contemplating a coffee machine purchase.  Let me know if you have any more questions I could answer about this.
