Has anyone had trouble with their Keurig coffeemaker splitting the foil top of a K-Cup?

Coffee then makes a mess in the cup holder.

Don't know what's going on.  I returned the Keurig and now having trouble with the second machine.

Thanks!

@Sunshine Kate .  We have had this happen several times with our newer machine.  Our old machine only punctured 1 hole in the top, this once makes several holes.  I thought we just got a bad box of pods . It has continued with the last 3 boxes of pods purchased.

I have a mini and every once in awhile I'll have an issue with the needle not puncturing the foil top. After a time or 2, it will puncture it, but doesn't make a mess of any kind.

I think it might depend on the brand of K-Cups you purchase.  I have the newer 5 hole Keurig and I use Kirkland's (Costco) brand of K-Cups (Pacific Bold) and I don't have any splitting of the pods.

Ok with the new Keurig's you have to put the pod in, & pull down the top fast & don't lift it up again until it's done.  If you don't do it fast it will rip the top of the pod & spit all over the place.

I always push my K-cup down by hand when I put it in so that the bottom punctures first.  It's then solid in the cup holder and the top doesn't get split when it punctures.

I went back to a Cuisinart coffeemaker a couple years ago because I just couldn't deal with all the Keurig issues, pod splitting, water sputtering, 1/2 cup of coffee with grounds in the cup, misfires, etc etc. No issues with the ole coffeemaker...

I'll buy the Kirkland's brand of K-cups (Pacific Bold) and see if that works better.  Thank you!

@Sunshine Kate  I have never had a K-cup split using Costco's  Kirkland Pacific Bold pods.  Like someone else on here mentioned.  Put the pod in and close the lid in one 'quick' continuous pull down of the handle.  I've used a few other brands of pods, some work well others didn't.  Let me know how it works out for you.  I own the Keurig Supreme Plus model with the 5 holes.  I bought mine at Costco 2 years ago.
