Keurig Filters Causing Swollen Throat

Has this happened to anyone else? Bought the K55 on the QVC deal and finally inserted the charcoal filter. Three days later I've got a consistent swollen throat after drinking the coffee or the My K Cup ground. Removed the filter, rinsed the device thoroughly with vinegar and water and now all is okay. Is this only me or does anyone else have a similar experience? Where are those filters made - China?

Re: Keurig Filters Causing Swollen Throat

...how do you know it's not the coffee,  or tea,and what's in it as a flavoring etc? I believe Keurig has a Fair Trade agreement with whoever manufactures their products so they are concerned about the integrity.

Did you call Keurigs Customer Service?

There are many variables-including where you live, source of water etc.....I'm playing Devil's Advocate, but I would start off with brewing your beverage in the conventional way first and see what, if any reaction you have.  If you still have a reaction, Keurig may not be to blame..... just an idea....

I read that you don't need this filter, if you filter your water already. I don't use mine.  My coffee is fine.

Re: Keurig Filters Causing Swollen Throat

I've had a Keurig for many years and use bottled water so we don't need the filters (bottled water stops most of the hard water build up), but I remember when I used to use the filters that it was recommended rinsing the filters prior to inserting them, and rinsing them with White Vineger sounds even better.

But I've never had my coffee maker cause this problem with me....  hope you're feeling better and that it never happens to you again....

I forgot to say that I bet there's some kind of residue on the filters from manufacturing.... yours may have had more than usual?

I have the same Keurig and first one that uses the filter.  I installed the filter when I set it up (October?) and have had no problems.

I have a model with water reservoir and a filter and don't use the filter.  It gave the coffee a strange taste even after going through the whole vinegar routine.

May not be good for the machine but I don't really care, once it dies I'm not replacing it.  I'm going back to my 4 cup Cuisinart.

even our britta filtors say to run them under the faucet for for like 20 secounds before using them.we dont use filtors for keurig filters because we use britta water anyway.
