I just bought a Keurig 2.0 to replace my old one that finally gave up. I like it but beware that you can't use the old K cups in it (this was not indicated when it was n the air). The box has to have the K on the box with 3 dots as part of the K. The new K cups have special ink that the 2.0 reads. We have a lot the other K cups so what I did was cut the lid from one of the new ones (make sure you have the one with the writing around the outside rim of the lid) and set in on top of the old K cup to "fool" the machine. Also it says it brews 9 size cups....not true, it only does 4. 10,8,6 and 4 ounces. You have to have the one with the carafe to get the other sizes which they leave out when doing the presentation. Not good advertising. Very deceptive. I am sure they are going to have a lot of unhappy buyers when they get the machine home.

There are some gadgets that will allow you to use any k-cups. San Francisco Bay coffee sends you a free clip with k-cup orders. You snap the clip on the Keurig & you can use any k-cup.

Also I was in BJ's and they had a 2 pack of the "my k cups" it had the clip included. The "my k cup" allows you to use your own coffee in the 2.0. I'm sure other places sell them as well. There are also hacks on YouTube that show you how to trick the machine into using any k cups.

This is not a case of deceptive adveftising.  This is a  case of making an inoinfor,ed purchase.

First, in regards to the requirement of using specific K Cups -- this is very old news.  In additiont o being announced since Keurig's announcement of the 2.0 brewers (before they were even sold), this issue has been discussed many, many times on these boards.  These discussions are in addition to the ad nauseum coverage of the same information on multiple news sites and in news publications.

As to the cup sizes, different machines have different features.  If you wish to have the model with all of the features, you would need to buy that model.

I am so tired of people complaining that they have been somehow tricked into purchasing something when the issue is actually buyer's remorse.  In today's age when we have a virtual connection to the entirely of humam knowledge at our fingertips, it seems silly to me that pople do not fully research and investigte purchases before making the decision to buy.

Using orange tape like this will work as well.  I just double this over and put it on the edge of the kcup and the whole menu will open up and you can make however much you want.   You could put it on the freedom clip as well.  From what I understand that does not open the menu up.

If you google or You Tube this subject...you will find instructions on how to easily snip the 'reader' wire inside.  Disables the kcup reader and lets you use any K cup you want.

I don't have a Keurig, but have 3 friends who all did this very easily.

@scratchy

Welcome to the forums.  I don't believe that EVERYONE   expects a relatively  new poster to know what is "old news" here about Keurig and what is not, so don't be deterred if someone expresses irritation that the subject has come up again.

I would wait until the warranty is up before doing this.

Didn't mean to create a stir KYToby..... I don't think I have ever posted a problem here before... I don't spend much time reading these boards, I just don't have the time. I was just wondering if anyone else had had a similar problem . As I posted earlier on the other board re the phone (also being put in my place by KYToby).I have been with QVC since the beginning and before and have spent thousands here and for the most part never any complaints about products. I remember hearing something quite a while ago about Canada or someone having a a law suit against Keurig but had totally forgotten. In the future I will stay off these boards and stick to Google for information. So much for being "put in my place" by a member of the QVC "family" 😢 P.S. I did find out that I could cut the top of a "new" Kcup and sit it on top of the old version.

Hello,goodbye and Happy New Year!
