Contact Aquasana, they have wonderful customer service with any specific questions you may have. There is an easy fix for the leak; they've improved the o-ring. They sent me one within a couple of days. After I replaced the o-ring I didn't have any more leaking. To keep your unit under warranty subscribe to the replacement filter program on their site and your base unit is covered for replacement as long as you're in the program. www.aquasana.com (Red light stays on, you need to change the filter)

Re: K44242 Aquasana question

I have this unit and mine has never leaked but the light on the front has never worked. And after 6 months I replaced the filter (I had to write it on the calendar for the reminder) and now the light inside the unit will not stop blinking red. And this was AFTER I replaced the filter. It's been 2 months since I replaced it and it STILL is blinking red. I have checked and re-checked the filter to make sure everything is sitting correctly and it is. Also, when I replaced the filter it appeared to NOT be filtering the water because the color of the filter was barely off white from the new color filter.  Maybe I have the best tap water in the country but I don't think so.  I'm really contemplating not using it anymore soley because it makes so much noise.

Re: K44242 Aquasana question

I also was about to purchase this filter, but then did some extensive research and I found that other brands actually perform as good or better.

The NSF is the agency that independently tests the water filters. In fact, the filter pitcher that begins with Br--- did better in tests than the more expensive ones, but the one that performed highest for our needs and removed the highest number of contaminenets in general, was the filter that has only 3 letters and begins with P--, so that's the one I settled on for my family!  In the P-- brand, I purchased 2 kinds, one that attaches to the sink as well as the pitcher.  I'm glad I did my research!

Look up some articles before you commit is my advice! Smiley Happy

I had the red blinking light also.  Then reread the instructions, which states to push the reset button, each time you change the filter.  The red light has stopped and I have the normal color.  If you still have the instructions for the filter, it shows where the reset button is.  It is right in front of the filter.  I hope this helps.
