I want to buy this next version that has the light inside. I suggested to QVC a while ago but I haven't seen it yet.  Anyone that has this loves it and I need to make up my mind if I want to go ahead and buy this model or the one with the light. I will buy the one with the light if you tell me it is a big difference. My microwave light just went and it is hard to see inside in my kitchen.  I am not in a hurry but do love all the Breville ovens have to offer. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks. Do I NEED the light?  No.  Would I LIKE the light?  YES!

I have the Breville (no light) and the Cuisinart Steam/Convection (with the light).  I have plenty of light in my kitchen plus under-cabinet lights...still I would pay extra for the light.  I like to see my food through the window without opening the oven...it's a personal thing.

I know you will enjoy your Breville!

Re: K41704 Breville Smart Oven with Cutting Board

I have a DeLonghi convection toaster oven that I love and use often. It has an interior light, which I appreciate, as it's nice to see the food as it's cooking. But if it had no light, I think I'd still manage fine, as there's enough light in the kitchen. I do wish, however, that my bread machine had a light on inside as it rises, bakes, does its thing; I always have a flashlight close-by just to check the progress, without lifting the lid and possibly jeopardizing the outcome. Maybe an interior light would cause too much heat, though. The Breville toaster ovens look nice! Maybe when mine kicks the bucket, I'll consider that brand.

Thank you for your input. I think I will end up getting the one with the light. Where I will put it is not as well lit as the rest of the kitchen. I will post when I get it. If QVC doesn't get it soon I will order from Bed Bath and Beyond or the Breville site. I probably will buy the cutting board also so that is why I am holding out for QVC to offer it. Smiley Happy

You will be glad to have the one with the light.  In addition to the light, it also slow cooks from 4 to 8 hours.  Paying the extra $20 is worth it.  I got mine from Amazon.

Re: K41704 Breville Smart Oven with Cutting Board

I recently bought the Mini Breville since I have limited space on the counter.  I am really liking it so far.  I can see using it more and more especially with hot weather coming so not having to heat up the big oven looks promising.  As far as a light goes, the one time I wanted to see inside while it was in operation I just shined a flashlight though the door, worked like a charm.

Re: K41704 Breville Smart Oven with Cutting Board

Being on this board is both helpful and harmful (to my budget!). After reading this, and having just replaced a WP oven that lasted for many years (was still working well, but the door wouldn't close) with a nice, functional Oster toaster oven, I ened up giving that one away and ordered the Breville mini. It should be here today. The Oster was fine, but I was looking for something a little better or faster or something. It just didn't work as well as the WP oven did. Anyway, thanks to all of you for your recommendations on this board in general. I have learned so much and I am happy to see that I am not alone in my appliance obsessions! Have a great day.

Re: K41704 Breville Smart Oven with Cutting Board

My Breville mini oven came today. It is pretty little. I heated up a casserole and made some garlic bread in it and I think it will be fine. I was a little afraid to bake some bownies in it, so I used the regular oven. I got one of the cutting boards for a different oven, but it fits fine on top (that is what a reviewer said on Amazon, so I trusted it).  I never even notied the light before unyil I saw the discussions bout it. The Oster I now have in the garage has the oven light, so if I miss it, I will swap out the ovens and know for next time! Thanks again for the recommendations.
