I like them fried in peanut oil with Himalayan sea salt. They are only good fresh & hot. I guess I'm weird since I don't like ketchup. Anyways DH thinks so. He says you will eat BBQ sauce but not ketchup. I said yes BBQ sauce does not taste like ketchup.

I had this at a restaurant last month. It carved out a new and separate spot in my heart for fries!
Sounds kind of similar to poutine. I have some Canadian friends that swear poutine is one of the world's best foods. A pile of crispy french fries topped with cheese curds and covered in brown gravy. Someday I'll have to try it, but only someplace that does it really well.
Until then I'll just stick with plain old ketchup on my fries and a sprinkle of salt except if I am having fish and chips, then I like malt vinegar on my fries.
That was the name that was on the menu! Duck Fat Poutine! The fries weren't crispy. I guess being layered between hot duck fat and gravy will fix that.
Your Canadian friends are right. I haven't had a french fry since then, it was that good.
A popular diner has Hobo Fries: fries topped with cheese and gravy. I thought they were good until I tasted these other ones.

Sweet potatoe fries with cinnamon and cream cheese dip or heinz with some frank's hot sauce.
On a healthier side- zucchini fries are delicious too

I like only fresh cut fries with pepper and malt vinegar. Sometimes I dip them in a little gravy and on occasion add Hunt's ketchup instead. For a change I sometimes add oregano to fries.
