Brandy Alexander is a sweet, brandy-based cocktail consisting of cognac and crème de cacao that became popular during the early 20th century. It is a variation of an earlier, gin-based cocktail called simply an Alexander.

In my part of the country they are considered an ice cream drink. Brandy, Crème de Cacao & vanilla ice cream. When my DH orders a Grasshopper, I'll often get a Brandy Alexander for my after dinner drink.

Here is a recipe that I like........
White Chocolate Brandy Alexander Recipe
Ingredients
3-1/2 cups milk
1/8 teaspoon salt
6 ounces white baking chocolate, finely chopped
1/3 cup brandy
1/4 cup creme de cacao
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Whipped topping and white chocolate shavings, optional
Directions
1. In a large saucepan, heat the milk and salt over medium heat just until mixture comes to a simmer. Remove from the heat. Add chocolate; whisk until mixture is smooth. Stir in brandy, creme de cacao and vanilla.
2. Fill mugs or cups three-fourths full. Top with whipped topping and chocolate shavings if desired.

My mom rarely drank alcohol, so when she did it was always something sweet and fussy like this. When I got my first dog as a child, I named him Brandy Alexander

My mother loved those as a birthday or holiday treat. She taught me how to float cream on the top (over the back of a spoon).

Wow. They're tiny, you put them in a liqueur glass which only holds about an ounce total for a drink.
Edit: I take that back. Apparently my mother made small ones, but google shows them bigger and in a martini glass

Just make it easy with a white Russian: 3 oz vodka, 1 oz kahlua and heavy cream in an old fashioned glass. Add the vodka and kahlua in an old fashioned glass filled with ice. top wiht splash heavy cream and stir. I use whipping cream (not whipped cream) or half-half.
