What are your family traditions during lent?

When we lived in pa. I used to love that all the bakeries would have all the eastern European pastries for lent.So yummy. We don't really get that here in our town in fl. I will miss it. My family didn't really have any traditions - just church and then, family dinner on Easter - and of course the easter baskets. However, my DH's family always had pancakes for shrove Tues. (the day before ash wed) and now that I belong to a church that does ashes I do that with my hubby. We don't "give something up" for lent but we do make a promise to each other and we make a point of keeping that promise before the end of lent. DH is ahead of the game this year - he promised to take out a bunch of mostly dead hedges behind out lanai and replace them with flowering bushes and he is almost totally done with that task. I am going to promise to clean out the inside of his truck for him, really clean it well.
