Is there really a big difference between a tri-ply pan and a pan with an aluminum core base?

I am going to purchase a 12" covered stainless steel pan. I am interested in an American made one. I saw the one I want and there are 2 choices, with a big difference in price. They are both good quality stainless steel, but one is a tri-ply, and the other is with an aluminum core at the base. The price difference is $50! One of them is $79.95 and the other one is $129.95. Is it really worth spending all that extra money to have a tri-ply pan? {#emotions_dlg.confused1}
