Does someone know just when Morton began putting powdered dextrose [simple sugar], in their boxes of iodized salt?
I ran out of real [jurassic] salt and picked up a box of Mortons. I didn't read the ingredients till after I used it thinking it was just the usual bleached salt with a 'flowing agent', usually finely ground sand [silica].
Actually when I was shaking it out there arose a cloud of dust that I didn't ever remember happening before with Morton's salt.
Ingredients now read: salt [bleached], calcium silicate, dextrose, potassium iodide.
What's with the sugar added to the salt?
