I was expecting with the Instant Pot that I can throw everything in the pot and cook it in less time. I use a crock pot frequently and that's what I do with it minus the quicker cook time. Anyway, I have been perusing recipe ideas and have been disappointed in how many of them require prep time in the IP doing various things like sauteing prior to making the actual meal, and then turning it down and turning it back up for various steps in recipes. It seems to defeat the purpose of less time if I'm having to hover around the pot to do things with it. Does that make sense?
Almost every recipe I've looked at requires some type of 'work' like this, so maybe I'm just choosing the wrong recipes.
Oh, I have not received mine yet, so maybe I'll feel differently about it when I get it.

I always brown meat first then add to what ever cooking pot.
Don't want to put raw meat or chicken in with noodles or vegetables
When I do chicken soup, or chicken and dumplings in my oval pressure cooker I cook the chicken first (I do mine for a good 60 min) then, cut into pieces then put the dumplings in the cooker that has the broth and chunks of the chicken for like 10 min

@SharkE. I was in Wal-Mart this morning and made a point of checking on the Pioneer Woman PC. They had lots of her slow cookers but no Instant Pots. They had a ton of 6 in 1 Instant Pots, which i bet is what hers is.
I've been meaning to ask you how that little cube evaporative cooler worked for you this summer? We had rain most of the night Wednesday. It was in 50s last night and is still chilly this morning. It sure feels good.
