Can you wash the rubber ring in the dishwasher? I know you can wash the lid so I'm assuming you can. Just wondering. Sorry if this has been asked before. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and we have a much better New Year!!

I don't have the Instant Pot but I do have the original Cook's Essential pressure cooker with the rubber seal/ring.  I always hand wash and let dry naturally.  Washing it all the time in a dishwasher with the high heat will, over time, make it weak and not fit correctly on the appliance.

If you remove the ring from the top, you can wash both in the dishwasher.

It shouldn't be necessary to wash the gasket in the dishwasher.   A quick wipe with a cloth or sponge should be all it needs.  Its not like it gets filthy.

It doesn't get filthy however it does retain an oder if I cook stew or things like that.  Washing the gasket in the dishwasher gets rid of the odor. I've always washed the gasket in the dishwasher and It hash't shown any signs of wear or misshape.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I'm going to wash them in the dishwasher plus buy extra rings...

I got a second ring after 3 or so years

and have read that if you make desserts just to get 2 to keep the smells separate,  the silicone picks up onions and garlic

I believe in putting almost everything in our dishwasher. But the installer rubber ring I wash by hand.

I put mine in the dishwasher (top rack) all the time. I hand wash the lid.
