@Yahooey We just bought an induction cooktop to replace our gas stove top. DH is very particular about the cooktop being spotless, and as you have stated, the constant lifting of the grates became tiresome.
We bought a GE, and it's being delivered and installed next week. Along with the purchase of the induction cooktop we went ahead and bought new cookware.

@grandma2pkmh. I've heard the same thing about Samsung appliances.

I have a Bosch induction cooktop and love it. You do need induction-ready cookware. The only time I use the highest setting is boiling water; otherwise, I do most of my cooking on the low to medium settings. I really can't think of any cons to induction.

i have a G E Profile induction range and love it! I've had gas and electric and liked and disliked both of those options. Induction really does redce the cooing or baking time IMO
I make pasta often and boiling water seems to go much quicker. Clean up for both the cooktop and oven is the easiest I've had. I don't think I would ever purchase any thing else.
As far as brands--I've not had either of those in a kitchen appliance. I do have Samsung washer and dryer and am pleased with them. I'm a big fan of searcing the top 10 brands of any appliance I'm purchasing just to get some additional info. I have to admit that I rely heavy on these forums for what others have experienced.
Good luck!

We bought a Samsung Fridge I had to have.
Needed to replace ice maker 2x in 6 years.
The repairman said "Samsung should stick to TVs only"
Oh dear, too late now! Other than my insisting to have a working ice maker....no other issues with it.

i have been cooking on my GE cafe cook top for about 4 years. Easy to clean & responsive. I did buy All Clad and use cast iron occasionally. With cast iron salesman taught me to put down a couple sheets of paper towel down under cast iron. It keeps stove from getting scratched. Spritz it after use with 50/50 water and vinegar mix and wipe with microfiber. Easy! I like the off/lock button so no one can turn on accidentally.
I did notice on Amazon that there are silicone pads for cook tops and think that's great for people who have limited counter area.

I have a portable induction cooktop and love it. Why not purchase one of these and try it out to see if you like induction cooking. If you do and get an induction range, you'll just have an extra burner when that might be conventient. Some of the portable units are superior to others, so do a bit of research before deciding whiich one to purchase.

As for Samsung vs. LG - I don't have a portable induction range, but have Samsung and LG TVs and have bee very happy with both. I think they're both quality brands.

We had a Jenn Air in our old house. We built a new one and I decided to put in gas. Wish I had stuck with induction. Love it! And much easier to clean....

I love my two portable induction cooktops.
Would love to have a large induction cooktop replace the 5-burner GE Profile gas that came with the house when new. By the way, the grates for that cooktop should be cleaned in a dishwasher, according to the owner's manual, which I have done several times. Can't imagine cleaning them by hand or in a sink.
My sister and BIL have had induction cooitops in every house they've owned and insist on having nothing else. They have needed costly repairs on a few occasions, so sis and BIL recommend maintaining a warranty on them. Their first brand l was a Thermador. Don't know what they have now.
When it comes to appliance manufacturers, I had an appliance repairman here not long ago to check out our washer hookup. He said our LG washer and dryer were excellent brands and strongly advised staying away from all Samsung appliances. He said their repair record was awful and technical support from the company was really lousy.
