Just got this book and although I am an Ina Garten fan, this one is a huge disappointment. You would have to be a very new and inexperienced cook to need this one.
The recipes are common concoctions with little real cooking, little if anything new, and lacking in creativity and presentation. The photos are beautiful, but green salads, sandwiches, grain bowls, hot dogs in puff pastery? Really?
I'd rate it 2 stars for pretty photos. But zero for recipes.

I asked Santa for this book, but I may have to change my list! I'm a big fan, too, but I don't have space in my cookbook library for a dud.
Thanks for the review, @Sooner
P.S. I enjoy Kardea Brown, and she has a new cookbook coming out soon: "The Way Home." I may ask Santa to make an exchange!

@Sooner thanks for this review. That is not at all what I expected from some of her interviews. I'm gonna take a pass on this one.

@hummermom My view is that if it is the kind of food you like, you know how to make it. If it isn't you won't use it. And some of it has harder to get or odd ingredients in just plain old recipies. Some aren't recipes, just for all purposes ingredient lists.

Thanks for your review, @Sooner . I was about to give this as a gift to a friend who's a big I.G. fan and a fine cook. I'll choose something else for her.

Oh no, I ordered and received a few for gifts. This is very disappointing to read. I watched her interviews and she's so excited about this book

I'm first in line to get this from my local library and looking forward to reading it. Ina mentioned that the focus of the book was easy-to-prepare meals since she was inspired during the pandemic to find ways to do more with less but still enjoy good food. Her books tend to be hit or miss with me, so it will be interesting to "check it out."
I truly love having the library as a resource, especially for cookbooks; I already have so many that it's fantastic to get to review content without any investment to determine if anything will make it onto my shelves.

@vsm take a look at it because it might be something she would enjoy and it is Ina, interesting writing, beautiful photos, but if you were expecting to love itfor the recipes, not much. If she is a fan, might still be a good and appreciated gift!
