Re: In The Kitchen With David

My favorite is the "Cookbook Corner"...........Plus, I remember when QVC's all day cooking event included this for an hour or so.........

I bought it at BB&B with the coupon.  Works great and has a small storage footprint, if you're talking about the unit that is no bigger than a 1 cup size measuring cup.

That's funny that you should say the new KA lady sounds like Laura. My husband has been saying that for a few weeks now! She was very nervous at first, but she's getting more comfortable lately.

As for IKWD, I tend to agree that it is getting a little long in the tooth lately. When I first started watching, I was so interested in the new items that I had no idea existed. A perfect example would be the Kuhn Rikon can opener with the bird beak. I must have pruchased 10 of these so far as gifts. It was one of those small, but kind of life changing items. Everyone who received one from me said the same thing. For pricing, I usually compare to Amazon. I don't usually go to brick and morter.

Do I still watch IKWD? Sure I do! I usually do my cooking for the week on Sunday afternoon, and I enjoy having his friendly presence in the room. My husband and I think marketing classes should be studying his techniques. If he says he owns something, it flies off the shelves. He makes the product reps feel as comfortable as possible by providing a sometimes silly, somtimes inquisitive, sometimes kindly foil for them to lean against. While on a QVC tour, we watched him in between sets. It was all about making sure the products were presented and received as they should be. David definitely needs new products and more of them than he currently has.

@PA Mom-mom

So, I'm not the only one who thinks they sound alike!  My first thought was that Laura chose her  and perhaps they're from the same part of the country.  In any case, it's always hard to step into the shoes of someone who did her job well for such a long time.  She'll find her way and I think she's an excellent rep for the product line.

You and I must lead parallel lives - I do much of my cooking for the week on Sunday mornings, and the show airs here from 9 am to noon.  I have ITKWD playing on my iPad on the kitchen counter.  It's as close as I get to having a friend pop over and cook with me, since none of my friends enjoy cooking. I've purchased many, many items from ITKWD over the years, and despite a few clunkers, most have become beloved additions to my kitchen.

Also, despite the fact that my husband couldn't possibly be less interested in food and cooking, he never complains when David takes over the television.  It's a pleasure to watch someone who takes his job so seriously and does it so well.  There is so much strife and stress and sadness in the world, it's nice to have an escape once in a while.

I think I recall David saying, a while back, that he'd be attending some kind of buying event. I hope that's happened and that there are new products in the works.

My husband also will watch David because of his work ethic and dedication. He calls him a "company man."And he means that in the best way. He can't hang around for any other QVC shows.

Now that you mention it, I think there must be many of us who like to cook alone in the kitchen but really enjoy the non-intrusive company of David and his guests. I'm too ADD/OCD to welcome help in the kitchen, but David keeps me company without constantly lifting my pot lids!
