I bought a bag of Ziyad brand fava beans with the intention of making a delicious soup recipe I found.
After doing alot of reading about cooking them, I'm a little intimidated. How can I tell if these have skins that need to be cut off?
There's one recipe on the package for a dip that resembles hummus. They want you to cook the beans over medium heat for two hours, pour off half the water and mash.Well, that still doesn't answer my question about the skin and removal. For example, limas have a skin but they become so tender in the cooking proccess, that's never an issue. I don't know if it's the same with favas.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Poodlepet
