Re: I want to make a run to Trader Joe's but I need some ideas.

We have a TJ's less tha a 10 minute walk from us and go weekly.  Love the paella in a bag, enough for the 2 of us.  Also the single serve spinach lasagna.  DH loves the "reduced guilt" mac and cheese.  Love the non-fat Greek yogurt.  It is a reasonably priced store and I have found the employees to be very helpful.

what would you recommend? I have never been but I have tried the butter croissants, peanut butter cups, desserts and maybe a few others.

What are your favorites!

Are they expensive? ☼

I went to Trader Joes for the first time a couple of weeks ago.  To be honest, I do struggle with what to buy/try.  There was a post on these forums a while ago that had all the most popular Trader Joes items.  On it was Mandarin chicken.  I even googled it and it had good reviews and seems to have a cult following.  I tried it (with my daughter) and it was just okay.  Not anything I would buy again.  I have gotten their macarons (in the frozen section).  I've gone back for them because my daughter likes them.  As I stroll around I try to gaze into other people's carts as to what they're buying.  A maple cream cookie seems pretty popular.  It's in a shape of a maple leaf.  Try googling "Trader Joes most popular items" and a lot will pop up,

Thanks I just did. The ginger snaps were named often but that would not interest me. I am really hoping they have the butter croissants that I tried before, they were awesome!

Re: I want to make a run to Trader Joe's but I need some ideas.

Someone mentioned that they felt everything was junk food.  Not at all true at my TJ's.  Great selection of produce and meats and cereals.  Excellent pasta sauces.  Nice selection of frozen vegetables.  A lot of organic products.  I could go on and on, but my point is only that TJ's is more than just "junk food".  I'm there once a week for most of my weekly grocery needs.

Re: I want to make a run to Trader Joe's but I need some ideas.

There are a few Trader Joe's Fan groups on on FB.  It is a great group to follow with people recommending items and also what they didn't like.  I keep a running list on Alexa, I named it TJ's shopping list.  When someone recommends something I would like, I tell Alexa to add it to my list.  Then at the store I open my Alexa app and have my list.   I am addicted to the everything but the bagel seasoning on my scrambled eggs, bagels and even buttered toast.  Their pot stickers are also a favorite.

Their Indian food is excellent. Butter chicken, chicken tikki masala, naan, Yum!

Also, potato pancakes, fried rice. And as someone listed onion soup.

@ID2

We purchase healthy food and TJs is one our weekly shopping trip stores,

most of what we purchase is organic and a staple.

Organic:   broccoli, red bell peppers, large box of fresh basil, frozen brown rice/millet medley, frozen artichokes, frozen mango, frozen spinach, granny smith apples, avocado, frozen quinoa, ginger, limes, low-sodium veggie broth, snow peas, beans, potatoes (red/gold/russets/sweet), tomatoes, micro greens, onions (sweet/purple)

Nonorganic:  bag of peeled garlic, raw sauerkraut (used to sell at Costco in large jar), nuts/seeds/dried fruit/sun-dried tomatoes (some of which are organic also), baby bok choy

We also purchase Dr Bonners Peppermint soap

I'm probably forgetting some things...just visualizing what usually goes in the basket while going down the aisles.  Prices are great and we go early to avoid the crowds. I've never noticed "junk" food at TJs, so it just depends on your focus/lifestyle.

The have incredible prices on cheeses and also nuts.  I love their bag of baby avocados - just enough for a salad or avocado toast.  They do have a lot of junk food now but they also have plenty of healthy choices.
