I need to get back to cooking again!

With a couple of surgeries between us, and different, heavy work schedules, DH and I have fallen into a rut of not planning meals and eating a lot of take-out (there's just the two of us). Not talking McDonald's, but from Italian and. Mexican restaurants nearby. I used to love to cook, so did DH, and try new recipes. Eating out is very expensive, not to mention bad for the waistline. I need a jump start! I'm certain others have fallen into this rut - how did you get yourself back on track without sacrificing what little free time you have on the weekends?
