I need advice regarding salmon

A friend gifted us with salmon filets and I'd like to marinate them and cook them on the grill.

Does anyone have any marinades they can suggest? I'm dying to get to that stuff but I want to make sure to prepare it right.

TIA!

...or, any suggestions on how to cook it besides marinating it, etc.

Re: I need advice regarding salmon

I like to make a finishing butter to put on the salmon after it's grilled.

Use softened butter, garlic, a bit of thyme, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and top with capers.

We eat salmon frequently at our house and this is a favorite.

As far as a marinade: find a good ginger salad dressing (I like Ken's).  You need to be careful with marinated too long or it makes the salmon too difficult to grill.

Enjoy!

@GoneButNotForgotten

We have salmon filets once a week, almost, and I do mine two  very simple ways.......both good.

Method 1----Mix equal parts of Dijon mustard and (real) maple syrup and pour over the salmon about 20-30 minutes before baking.  Then oven-bake  at 400 degrees in a foil-lined metal baking pan for about 15-20 minutes or until you test the middle and see whether it's done.

Line the metal pan with foil, because baked-on maple syrup is a nightmare to clean up on glass or ceramic.

NOTE:  Experts do not recommend a long marinating time for fish, so 20 minutes or so is enough.  You can baste the fish with the pan juices once during baking if you think it's needed.

Method 2--Melt butter in lemon juice in microwave, pour over salmon and apply a liberal sprinkle of  seafood seasoning such as Old Bay or Paul Prudhomme's Cajun Seafood Magic blend.

Bake at 400 degrees about 15-20 minutes or until fish is done to your satisfaction.  Many people like to eat salmon a little more rare in the middle than I do.

We also love it poached gently in water with a little lemon and maybe some herbs in it.  It also makes the best leftover salmon to use in a salad.

I use lemon juice and sliced lemons and pats of butter on top, dill, galic, salt and pepper, and maybe some white wine. Wrap it up in foil and bbq it---then let it sit to finish--like it just barely pink but not raw--I can get whole salmon nearly all year round as I live near Seattle so have access to the best at a very good price.

@GoneButNotForgotten I like to keep it simple.  Just douse with lemon, salt and pepper and place butter pats over the salmon.  Bake at 12 to 20 minutes.  I like the idea of adding capers as well or place a branch of dill over the salmon before baking.

Re: I need advice regarding salmon

I do a marinade of 2 TBS Soy Sauce, 1 1/2 TBS Dark Sesame Oil, 1 TBS Honey.  Let it marinate 5 or so minutes, sprinkle with sesme seeds. I generally bake mine, so I add some pineapple chunks (minus the juice) in the baking pan.   I bake I at 450 Deg F 12-15 minutes and broil for a couple of minutes to brown.  I'm sure you could grill it though without the pineapple chunks.

We use Don Prudons "red fish seasoning" from the grocery store.

My Dill Sauce for Salmon is

1/2 C  sour cream

Heaping Tbsp. Mayonaise,

Juice from. 1 slice lemon

1 Tbsp dried dill.

Mix, chill.  Major yum!
