Re: I'm thinking of getting an induction countertop burner

[ Edited ]

Would I ever take an induction cooktop over a gas stove?  Abolutely YES.

My sister and brother-in-law have always insisted on putting a top-of-the-line induction cooktop in the houses they've owned, and the first time I sauteed some vegetables on theirs, I was sold.

My own glasstop electric is much preferred over a gas stove, too, even though it's pretty balky at heating up and cooling down.  I've had gas burners in the past and don't miss them.

Bought the 1800 watt NUWAVE witih carrying case from HSN when it was a lot less costly than it is now.  Haven't used it much because its fan  noise is annoying and it takes up too much needed workspace at times, but I do like the way it cooks.

In the kitchen in my head, I have an induction cooktop and it is lovely . . . in my real life kitchen my cooktop doesn't even function so I cherish my NuWave . . . Smiley Happy

Re: I'm thinking of getting an induction countertop burner

I just bought the Nuwave2 from BB&B (20% off coupon) and it comes with an 8-inch fry pan.

I'm still getting used to it, but I do like it compared to my glass top that fluctuates the heat and is hard to control.  I noticed when i cooked burgers, the center will brown, but the outer edges do not.  I think that is because the heating element is only in the center ring.  Also, I did not know the wattage and someone mentioned that in an earlier post, so i checked the instructions.  The highest setting of Sear is 1300W.  It does a fine job as far as i'm concerned, I don't think it needs more power....however maybe that browning issue would be different at a higher wattage.

Sorry I don't have more experiences to report on it.  I've had it for only 2 weeks.

Re: I'm thinking of getting an induction countertop burner

Yes, I've had a Nuwave Portable Inducation Cooker (PIC) for two plus years. I use nothing but the PIC for my cooking except to cook pasta and that's only because my pasta pot is not induction ready. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the PIC. Don't buy any other brand of portable induction cooker as none have the temperature range or adjustability of the Nuwave. Also, buy the newest Nuwave - larger cooking ring and temperature adjustability in 5 degree increments. If you see any Nuwave PIC with temperature adjustability in only 10 degree increments, it is an old model. Don't get this one.

Re: I'm thinking of getting an induction countertop burner

I was just starting a new threat about this when this site directed me to this threat.  I love this new feature here.

Anyway, I have just ordered one of Ming Tsai's burners and am glad to read all the  positive responses here. Thanks.
