I'm a cookbook addict as well. I can think of worse things to be addicted to, so I'm not going to be too hard on myself. I love to read them like novels and I do actually use them!

Why worry over it. You like cook books, you collect cook books. So relax and enjoy them. Why treat it like it's a problem?

I tell myself I will NEVER buy another one. Then in the next breathe I'm buying a new one
I also have many recipes from websites saved on my computer "favorites". A major issue I have is I will see a recipe that catches my eye, I buy any ingredient(s) needed but I don't make it right away. Then I see the ingredients and think "now what did I buy those for and where was the recipe from?" Cookbook or online??? I have a problem. I need help

My name is PamelaSue and I am addicted to cookbooks. I don't want or need a cure.
My DH had a bookcase made for me by a local Amish woodworker. It has a depth of 16 inches, instead of standard 12) so that even my larger cookbooks have room on the shelves. That bookcase is full...I have no more room.
There are boxes of cookbooks in closets, there are boxes of cookbooks under the bed in our bedroom. I have cookbooks in the kitchen, I have totes of cookbooks in the basement. DH went into the bathroom the other day, came back out carrying a cookbook and said, "Dear, why? Why is there a cookbook in the bathroom?" And I replied, "Because I have no more room for them anywhere else!" He just smiled.
A few weeks ago, I told him I would really try to not buy another cookbook. Five minutes later, I was on Amazon, buying the Southern Living cookbook that was being hawked on QVC. DH just looked at me and shook his head.
Seriously, DH doesn't care if I buy cookbooks....he just likes to give me a rough time. And I use my books. I really do. I won't buy a cookbook unless there are two recipes in there that I know I will try. (It used to be only one recipe, but I upped my standards
)

He said IT'S IN THE DANG COOKBOOK!
1 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
¼ cup chopped dill pickle
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
2 teaspoons capers
2 teaspoons grated onion
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon of prepared mustard
1 teaspoon lemon juice
¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Combine all ingredients; cover and chill. Yield: 1 ¼ cups.

I got this recipe from the book “The Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Cookbook.”
Well DUH.............
I bought the cookbook, but have not even looked at the recipes yet............Guess I should read and look at what I bought..........Thanks for the info.....it really was good, and I can imagine everything, but it did not look like any mustard in it......but it really was good.............
I just read the recipe in my cookbook, and it does not list mustard as an ingredient........GO figure........I love mustard, but I knew that what I had did not taste like it had any mustard in it, and it was not just me who really enjoyed it.......I have all of the ingredients, and just have got to make it.......

I thought I was the only one with this problem!! It is a problem because my house is getting cluttered and buying cookbooks is a big waste of money for me!! Since going to a healthier diet, I rarely use a cookbook.
