Have you ever used a microplane to mince your garlic? I no longer use a press.

Of course, you should buy what you need; however, if you have a good knife (and/or a microplane) a garlic press is superfluous.  IMHO  Woman Wink

That's a great suggestion! I just recently bought a set of two graters from QVC, have them now, and will try it out asap! Thank you!

Re: I Need A New Garlic Press From QVC!!

I love the OXO garlic press that I bought 4-5 years ago for around $16-17.

The press is nicely weighted/balanced so it has good hand feel. The levering system works well so that it doesn't take much effort to press each piece of garlic.

My very favorite part about my OXO press is the ease of cleanup. While the garlic container is in one handle. on the other handle there are raised mini rectangle pieces that fit inside all the tiny holes through which the garlic is pressed.

After I've finished pressing the garlic, I just turn the handles in the opposite direction to press out any remaining bits of garlic that have been trapped in the tiny holes. I've used other presses which had this function, but they always left little bits of garlic stuck in the holes. So I would wind up using fork prongs to get the last bits of garlic out.

The OXO press removes any last garlic bits and which makes for a really easy cleanup.

I saw this "garlic rocker/mincer" by Joseph Joseph in a catalog that I occasionally receive (have no idea how I get on these mailing lists!).......looks pretty good and simple........think I might have seen the same thing at Bed, Bath & Beyond, but not sure.

It gets nice reviews from users.

The Kuhn Rikon epicurian stanless steel garlic press is great. It's all steel, works wonderfully and is easy to clean.
