on Instant Pot.
I just made a white bean stew which was to take 40 minutes, but I needed twice as long in the Instant Pot. I have it on normal high pressure, but would like to go to the highest setting. For some reason I seem to be to dense to be able to do that. Have tried to do it the way they tell me to, but it does not work.
I would imagine I am doing something wront. Can someone help me?

If I had one I would help you, but, what I would do is watch the video when they show folks how to set the options.

I've come back to your posting and note that you're still waiting for some answers. I've only used my new 'P" twice so no expert. I do notice you reference two things you want: Higher pressure - and - longer cooking time. Is it both you want? Did you get an owner's manual - did you first push the 'soup' selection and then use the +/- buttons to change factory setting to what you need? Check you tube too - those have helped me in a pinch.

There are different models of Instant Pots. Mine doesn't have anything higher than the normal high pressure, at least not that I'm aware of. I use pretty much the times that are suggested in recipes and it cooks thoroughly in that amount of time. Which model Instant Pot do you have? Maybe someone with the same model will be able to advise you.
By by the way, were you following a recipe that came with the IP? It would probably be better to start with those while you're still getting used to your IP.

@shoesnbags I have the IP Duo 7 in 1 which I got back in March. I have had a pressure cooker for years and am so used to put in my own time. Have made other things in my IP which came out fine. But @fthunt as you suggested, I really should start using the presets for. It really annoys me that I was not able to use the different pressure settings when I want to, but will work on learning this.
Thank you all for your suggestions.

@SharkE: I always enjoy your input on different subjects. I have the Cuisinart pressure cooker and love it. My egg cooker just died and DH looked at the instant pot and wants me to purchase this instead of another egg cooker. My feeble mind canāt understand how it is possible to do boiled eggs in a pressure cooker. I love small kitchen appliances but running out of storage space. Should I purchase the instant pot and try to teach this ole dog š something. Southern Bee

@SouthernBee I am pretty sure you can cook your eggs in any pressure cooker. Just need to program for it. I remember Meredith talking about this when demonstrating CE pressure cookers. My IP doesn't have an egg preset either, but I will try the eggs either today or tomorrow anyway. I think it is done on the steam setting and then put in the time. Will have to find out how many minutes. You can google for that.

@CLEM--am confused about wanting higher pressure --there is low, med and high---have seen a med pressure on some p/cs but not for years. Do you just need more time on high pressure? Then you need to press the -/+ just under the led window for more time or less time as previous posters have suggested.
Also just a FYI----found some recipes that call for pressing the manual button and setting the time yourself---I don't have a manual button on IP but I do have a pressure cook button--they are the same thing. Not sure if this has confused anyone------![]()
