How should I transport mashed potatoes?

My husband's single brother is hosting Thanksgiving this year. Of course, everyone is bringing the side dishes. I offered an hors d'oeuvre and the potatoes.

My husband doesn't want to make Make Ahead Mashed Potatoes with cream cheese and sour cream. Now I don't know if we can make plain mashed potatoes at home and transport them to be served 2-3 hours later. Or do we have to prepare them there?

There will be around 20 people. I appreciate your advice on how we should proceed! Smile
