Re: How important is your dishwasher?

@Shelbelle  Are you aware that if you don't turn off the valve to the dishwasher it could still get water all over your floors?  It happened to us while we were away and it totally destroyed my kitchen.  Floors, wallboard, and lower cabinets and it traveled into my laundry room too.  My husband installed a new backup valve so that will never happen again.  We added more backup valves elsewhere too.  We are paranoid and a new kitchen is very expensive.

Also, my unused DW makes for a great storage unit for extra kitchen items.

Could...of course - would I want to - of course not.  Not only do I like the convenience of having a dish washer, especially after guests, but I like the extra hot water just for sanitation.  When we travel in our RV, I don't have a dishwasher and miss the convenience.  I miss it but I don't mind....the adventure makes up for the inconvenience

6.  Could live without it and did for many years.  But it is a nice convenience.  Would not be a deal breaker in an apartment or a house.

Negative 10 for me. I wonder all the time why I am using one as a single person but it is convenient and I fill it up fairly quickly with my lunch tupperware so nothing is sitting for too long.

I don't understand some people (totally get if you have kids or a big family for whom it's a must) who refuse to go without. Humans have survived longer without most modern conveniences than with aka we're all still here.

You haven't really lived until you've shown three of your 20 something co-workers how to close a mechanical file cabinet that wasn't shutting because the bottom drawer was not completely in.

Three young adults standing around on their phones versus one Gen Xer sans technology. I kicked it close and voila!

Re: How important is your dishwasher?

No importance to me at all!  Not only would it take up space in my kitchen but take too much time to use.  I can rinse and wash dishes better and faster.  I observe friends and family that have them having a specific way to load one which takes them too much time.  I don't care what anyone says, dishes need  rinsed first.  When unloading I see some  holding each piece up and actually rewashing some items after taking them out of the dishwasher.  Plus the ones I have seen eventually start to smell especially those who just throw them in unrinsed and leave them set until there is a full load.

Re: How important is your dishwasher?

@Harpa I had to be fingerprinted for a job and the city or county couldn't get prints with many trys.  I had to go to State Bureau to some fancy digital machine.  I blame it on piano playing and typing.

Touch screens also are sort of problematic for me, which I blame on it as well.

And to think, I could have had a productive life of crime in one county!  Woman Very Happy

I would say our Bosch rates a 7 or 8. We do a lot of cooking and baking. Sometimes I have run that machine 3 days in a day. Quite, saves energy and water, and my hands aren’t dry and cracked. Excellent kitchen machine!
