How do you clean your brushed-stainless appliances?

My range, fridge, microwave and dishwasher all have brushed stainless steel fronts.

I can't seem to keep them looking nice.

What's the trick? {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

I have heard that olive oil and a microfiber cloth work.

First, with baking soda and warm water with a soft cloth. then you maintain it with Pledge. I thought all stainless steel appliance owners knew this??

For extremely difficult baked on stains, soak a paper towel or soft cloth in white apple cider vinegar,lay in on top of your stove for an hour or so. Later go back and start the above process.

I purchased a polish specifically made for stainless steel appliances by Weiman but I read here on the threads that Pledge also works and it does (just the regular Pledge in the yellow container). I also bought a large package of yellow microfiber cloths from Costco and use those for all my cleaning. And remember to polish in one direction (on all of my appliances I polish east-west).

Thanks so much! I have Pledge in my arsenal, but never thought of using it for that. I've tried olive oil and some other things, but it seems as soon as I walk away, smudges reappear. I'll try the Pledge.

Pledge, the plain original kind, has actually been recommended by the makers of stainless steel appliances. Does a heck of a job in removing fingerprints and such. But don't use it over grease and grime. Just on clean surfaces

A small amount of Coconut Oil rubbed in does exactly the same and puts a nice shine on it and helps keep dust from settling.

Same here, just microfiber and water. Nothing else needed.

Re: How do you clean your brushed-stainless appliances?

You put in all that time and effort to get them looking nice, you walk away happy, but when you return, those darn smudges have mysteriously reappeared while you were out of the room. We tried a variety of different products including, pledge, weiman wipes etc.. all with the same result. We finally found a product that actually works really well. Magic Stainless Steel Cleaner Streak Free Shine Prevents Fingerprints With Stay Clean Technology (we get the pump bottle not the aerosol)

The stuff is amazing, we use it maybe every 6 weeks or so and on the off chance you get a a smudge it wipes away and stays away. It's quick and easy to use and forms a protective coating that keeps it shiny and clean and in our dry, dusty climate, it also repels dust.

That's the problem I have, tkins.. they look beautiful and a few minutes later the smudges are back. I'm going to look for that product on Amazon.
