I purchased a 6qt Cook's Essential Pressure Cooker at a Garage Sale, it was brand new. The Instruction Book was included with it.
My first attempt is cooking a whole chicken. To keep it simple, I put about 2 cups of BBQ sauce in the cooker with the chicken. I put the lid on, locked it. Set the gauge to "pressure". I then pushed the "Pressure Mode" button for high, set the timer for 40 minutes and pressed start. This is where the problems starts, the "Pressure indicator rod" will not rise. So when the timer indicates it's done cooking and I release the pressure, there is no steam coming out since the rod never went up. The liquid in the cooker is boiling and the chicken is cooking, but not as fast as it should be.
What am I doing wrong
