They're selling hatch chiles at my local grocer's now I didn't purchase any yet but I did buy a limited offer of a bag of Hatch/cheese popcorn to try.

The harvest is underway. They are in the field shown behind the bucket being emptied.

We buy them fresh but mostly roasted to bring out that special Hatch flavor.

@SoCal Bred When I bought the sack of them, I would fire up the grill and char them peel them and freeze them.  WOW were they good all winter!  On the grill it went pretty fast--then peel the char and freeze.  Most of them I seeded too before freezing.  Lazy time, I didn't. Woman Embarassed

They roast them in front of the HEB grocery stores in Texas.  The smell is heavenly!!

My local grocery store gets hatch chilis this time of year too--not sure where they come from --but they set up a huge rotating roaster outside to roast them and it is heavenly!! I would love the recipe for the hatch poblanos--looks amazing!!
