Ilived near a smoke house & could get triple smoked hams, which made the best soup.

But I moved & can't find triple smoked ham where I live.

I tried ham hocks-didn't quite do it.

Well, I have found a better solution. I grill ham until it is really smokey (think try & leathery, but filled with smoke flavor) I also add 1 drop of liquid smoke per quart of soup.

Best soulution so far. I freeze leftover pork roads in cubes & also add it to the soup for the nice chew factor.
