I'm just curious as to whether any of you have ordered/tried the Honeybells and if so, do you feel they are truly worth the cost? While all the hype given to them by the hosts and that man selling them makes it very tempting, I can't quite grasp paying $2.50 or more per orange. Are they really THAT good?
Just as an aside, I know one thing: if I ever did get them, I sure wouldn't want my kitchen to be the sticky mess they create on the show by squeezing them and juice squiriting all over everything and everybody and juice running everywhere! To me, that is somewhat revolting but then, I have issues with watching people eat and devour food on TV while they are demonstrating it. To me, that is crass and tasteless (no pun intended). That's just me though. I guess that's what sells for most people.
In my area, just like the HB's, our local grocers carry "Clementines" about this same time of year and for a very limited period of time. They are a form of Mandarine oranges and they are very tasty and likewise more expensive than the regular oranges carried all the time but the cost is no where near the cost of the HB's. I'm wondering how they compare in taste. Has anyone had the opportunity to try both to compare?
