HELP with Vitamix....

Just received my Vitamix Creations yesterday, which was in the cranberry color. I purchased one for myself and one for my daughter. I read directions plugged it in and...nothing...no lights and it would not turn on. The switch in turned on, the #1 is set and there is NO power. I am really hoping my daughter's machine will work for her when she receives it. Does anyone have any ideas. Am I doing something wrong? SO disappointed especially after waiting one month. QVC does not list this item any longer so I cannot see the feedback on the item. HELP.
