I think it's so funny that QVC is selling Granite Ware! Whose mom and grandmother didn't have one of these? It's so inexpensive (roaster below is $12 at Wal-Mart) and performs great. I guess everything old is new again! I bought mine when I was newly married, nearly 25 years ago, and still use it today. It's just funny that with all the newfangled cookware/bake ware available, a set of Granite Ware was featured on QVC!

My mother always cooked her turkey in a large granite ware roaster which looked very similar to the one in the photo. It was good stuff and held up very well over the years.

I have a small version of that! It got delegated to the bottom of the cabinet and for some reason, I never use it anymore! It must be a gazillion years old!

Ever since I got my cast iron Dutch oven, that is the only thing I use...even though it is much bigger.

I ordered this set. I happened to be home watching and was intrigued, so I did some research. I too have the "old" pans that belonged to my grandmother and my mother. But my "new" roaster is starting to chip, so I've been thinking of investing in another one anyway. I've been looking at All-Clad, but they're all over $100. The ones I inherited are not this large, but I use them for smaller meals. The reviews of these are good, so I decided to go for it. I like the large cookie sheet too. I have some white metal ones that were my mom's. I use them all of the time. But they're smaller and they HAVE seen better days! Wink

Thought is odd that they waited till nearly the end of the presentation to tell us it was made in USA. Very glad to see that Q is offering things made here.

As for granite ware, not a fan of cooking in it. I find it thin and easy to burn things. The stuff made today isn't nearly as thick as those old vintage pieces, and the enamel chips off rather easily. Never been a fan of the performance, but love the look. Nostalgic.

I found Granite Wear to be much too thin. We use enamel cast-iron (Staub and Le Creuset).
