I have never had a gooseberry, so I am wondering what they taste like?  I think you can buy them canned, but wonder if you can get them fresh or frozen?  Does anyone have a gooseberry recipe they recommend?

Thank...just interested in trying something new.

I grew up with gooseberry bushes in the garden.  They were my favorite fruit.  It seems to me (but I am not sure about this) that they grow in higher elevations and cooler climates.  Have only seen them a few times at a farmers market at the Amish stand, but they have been very small and sour.

My brother loves gooseberry pie and I like to make it for him.. I have ordered fresh ones at a market here called Bristol Farms, and have seen online that there are companies that sell them frozen, but have never found any frozen here in So Cal...

i have made made do with canned and they are ok...

They're practically a weed in North Dakota so I'm guessing they'll grow anywere.

I never cared for them myself, too tart.
