Glass table topper?

I've been eyeing a very pretty kitchen set with a light colored country distressed top. The salesperson suggested covering it with a glass top to make it easier to deal with the typical spills a kitchen table has to take. Do any of you have a glass table top on your kitchen table? Do you remember what you paid for it? Do you like it? How is it holding up?
