My neighbor wants to go on a nut diet to lose weight

Which is the best brand for quality?

What’s your favorite nut combo?

Just nuts, or with fruits ok.  No candy.

Squirrel - never tried Ferris - anything but germack, imho:  what they show on TV is nothing like I've every gotten!

A friend's mother was taken to the ER with stomach pain.

She had been eating her regular GOOD diet as usual,  but she was in the mood for pistachios.  So a couple of evenings, she would snack on the pistachios while watching TV. She totally enjoyed them. Until the pain hit.  I think she ate two bags (not huge bags).

In the OR, they removed the blockage in the small intestine,  pretty much in one piece, comprised of all the chewed-up pistachios.  The doctor showed a picture to the family.

I don't think it is a good idea to go on a nut diet.

We’ve only tried Squirrel brand White Chocolate nut (?) can’t remember which one and we really weren’t that impressed. Gave most away.

I agree with Elri - a nut diet is asking for trouble.  Too much fiber - digestive system can't handle it - blockage = pain.  Tell your friend to go on a well balanced program with enough fluids, etc.  Crazy diet in my opinion.

Nuts are extremely high in calories.  I wonder what a nut diet is.  I know the Zone diet calls for a few nuts ...very few.

There are all kinds of diets; some are OK, others are not.  I think that the dieting that most doctors recommend is reduce calories and increase activity.  A doctor might also suggest a talk with a dietician/nutritionist about portion control.  I've never heard of a nut diet.  Why don't you be a "good neighbor" and suggest to her that she talk to her doctor BEFORE she goes on a diet on her own.
