KJPA all this makes me hungry,,,it amazes me how we can get so nuts with mashed potatoes,,,I'm reading this for what I need to know,,,,,some of the comments are so very 'not nice'

Trader Joes has the best frozen mashed taters! There is nothing, I mean nothing in them but potatoes. They mashed them and made these pellets about 2 inches square, and freeze them. I heat them (you can heat in oven, stove or microwave), add a dab butter, salt and pepper. You can add chopped parsley or sour cream. I think they are good with just salt pepper and butter

Yes! They're the only frozen ones I have ever liked. I never would have bought them in the first place because just the thought of frozen mashed potatoes sounds all kinds of wrong to me! But I love TJ's, and was convinced to give them a try.

They're not as good as homemade, but much, much better than any of the other pre-made brands. The bag contains frozen medallions, and you use as few or as many as you need. I keep them on hand for the times when I'm in a hurry or need the convenience.

That's exactly what I thought of Country Crock. I didn't think mashed potatoes could be bad, but I was wrong!

these... I used to concoct all types of "easy" recipes. these. ^^^^ are easy and are "real" potatoes

I can't imagine thinking making mashed potatoes is such a chore! Its so EASY! All the mess of peeling is in the sink. You rinse, turn on your garbage disposal, walla done! I can't stand all the sodium added to the store bought mashed potatoes. Yuck.

I would never use pre-made mashed potatoes.

You can fix them 1-2 days before, just add extras to help ensure creaminess and put them in the frig. I add butter and sour cream and sometimes cream cheese. I use low/no fat except at Thanksgiving. One day a year won't kill anyone.

For the last few years we have had Thanksgiving dinner at my daughter's house. We all bring something to lighten the load on the hostess. I mean after all, we are all family and many hands make light work.

I bring two pies, green bean casserole and some fluffy sweet salad. One of my sons and his girl bring the mashed white potatoes and the mashed sweet potatoes, not to be confused with the dark yellowish/red Yams.

Then everybody else fill in the gaps with salad, other desserts or whatever they want to bring.

That way, in addition to roasting the turkey making stuffing and making the gravy, she just has to clean and decorate the house.

All of us are so happy to do this and like I said before Many Hands Make Light Work.

By the way, I have frozen mashed potatoes and they are "ok" but not half as good as fresh mashed potatoes.

Peeling isn't easy with finger arthritis........ Ore-Ida Steam and Mash contain 260mg of sodium per small serving, so less than traditional salted mashed potatoes, and very manageable for my low sodium eating.

This thread shows how we are all different with different tastes. I used to like Simply Potatoes but they changed them awhile back and I tried Bob Evans. I've now switched to Bob Evans. I do sometimes still make mashed potatoes from scratch on special occasions. I make them a day or so in advance and put them in a large casserole dish, refrigerate, and reheat in the microwave. It works great. I used butter and milk but a few years ago tried heavy cream and omg they came out so good so now I mix that in as well.
