I've been hearing information related to negative effects of storing and freezing in plastic. The concern seems to be possible toxic chemicals that can enter your food.

I've always used Lock 'n Lock to freeze soups etc. What are you using?

Please share if you've adjusted your storage habits because of concerns over plastic containers.

@shy bobcat.  I quit using plastic sport water bottles because after water sat in them a couple of days, it acquired a chemical taste.

I've never noticed a taste in anything stored in storage containers like Lock 'n Lock and have no concerns about using them.

If I am freezing food, I use a foodsaver freezer bag, we have no complaints.

I have not adjusted my habits about storing food in plastic.  The foods I store in plastic are in the freezer for a very short time; days to a couple of weeks, not months, so it doesn't concern me.

Also, I have more days behind me than in front of me, and I'm not letting information like this take up space in my head.  It just doesn't concern me.

I use some lock n lock containers in the freezer and I use zip loc freezer bags for meats.

Been doing this most of my adult life and I'm still here.

Re: Freezing foods?

I think the problem with plastic leaching into foods are anything Hot. I doubt that would happen in the freezer.

They say don't leave those water bottles in your car because the plastic will leach toxins when it's hot.

I use Foodsaver Bags to freeze foods.

I use glass & plastic to store foods in the refrigerator.

I store most foods in glass mason jars and Anchor Hocking containers.  Sometimes they'll be used in the freezer, too, but I also use a vacuum sealer with approved/safe bagging material.  If I have to use a disposable plastic container I'll line it with unbleached parchment paper. Never reheat food in plastic.

I store my extras in food Saver bags---no bad stuff in them. I have a tiny refer/freezer now---just hate it---so I need to be able to store things flat. Also I can't buy much in bulk because of the lack of storage.

Add me to the list of FoodSaver users.  From soups, meat, veggies, fruits, it has all been frozen in their bags at one time or another.  We buy in bulk, portion it out, vac it and into the freezer it goes.  Some for months at a time. A couple of times I have found hamburger a couple of years old.  Cooked it up to see if it was still good.  It was fine, no weird taste.

We also use the small sized Hefty freezer bags when there are small amounts of leftovers.  They also work well.  Not worried about toxic chemicals entering our food.   Have lived 68 years storing and eating foods with no ill effect.  Not going to worry about it now.
